Digicel and O-Shen sing ‘Meri Krismas’ to PNG

December 14th 2008 - Digicel and O-Shen sing ‘Meri Krismas’ to PNG

Fireworks and festive fanfare rang out across Port Moresby on December 14, as Digicel PNG brand ambassador O-Shen headlined the Digicel Carols by Candlelight with the Governor-General.

The concert took place in front of a specially-invited audience of disadvantaged and disabled children, with links to the Digicel PNG Foundation, and the Digicel-red venue bounced to all O-Shen’s best-loved hits.

The night was completed with an array of Christmas favourites sung by a 120-strong children’s choir, provided by the PNG Children’s Foundation. The choir concluded the night by belting out ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’.

Santa then rolled into the venue atop a BMW K1200RS motorbike, and proceeded to hand out Digicel Christmas gift-packs to the kids in the audience.

His Excellency Governor-General Sir Paulius Matane gave the official address, thanking Digicel for its sponsorship of the Christmas Carols night, the proceeds of which went to the Boroko Rotary Club in Port Moresby.

The Carols event - MC’d by Digicel PNG Marcomms Manager Laurie Lahari - was recorded by EMTV, PNGs national TV station, and broadcast three times over the Christmas period, including a primetime evening slot on Christmas Day, enabling the nation share in the festive fun offered by the Bigger Better Network.
