DIGICEL LENDS A HAND TO DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN

January 10th 2012 - Children receive Digicel Back-to-school bags in time to kick start academic year

Digicel has shown support to disadvantaged children living at the National Housing Corporation Flats in Gordons by presenting them with 50 back-to-school bags for the 2012 school year.

Despite receiving their gifts after Christmas, the children were excited and made their way to the Digicel Head Office last Friday to collect their back to school bags. Most of the children come from broken families and deceased parents and are mostly taken care of by their grandparents.

Rubie Yapumi Alei, a mother of four and, like these children, she was brought up in these  block of flats  during her childhood and wanted to give back to her community by helping these less fortunate children have a wonderful Christmas. Rubie decided to seek sponsorship from PNG’s leading telecommunications company Last December to help with the children’s Christmas celebrations and have now received merchandise that will assist the children in their academic year this year.
