MOTHER OF TWO WINS K100, 000 IN DIGICEL’S I LOVE MY DIGICEL CASH CALL FINALE

September 1st 2011 - Port Moresby women wins grand cash prize in ‘I love my Digicel’ promo

Thursday, 1 September, 2011, Port Moresby -  Mother of two Joy Tanda who lives at the Morobe Block at 9 Mile in Port Moresby is now K100,000 richer after her Digicel number was selected at random to receive Digicel’s final ‘I love my Digicel’ call cash on Thursday.

The I Love My Digicel Cash call promotion saw customers who purchased a new Digicel handset, in July or August go into a draw to win a cash prize of K1000 through a daily cash live on Nau FM, with final call of the promotion offering a massive K100,000.

Joy from Enga was shocked when she received the call from Nau FM’s Shifty and Digicel’s Lorna McPherson live on air on Thursday. When asked to sing the Digicel’s catchy “I Love my Digicel anthem to win the cash, she belted it out and shirked with delight when Lorna from Digicel confirmed she had won the big prize.

“I didn’t believe it at first, I thought someone was trying to trick me but when I heard a lot of voices congratulating me, I knew it was real. I am in shock I still cannot believe I had just won such a huge sum of money, this will change my life, I do truly love my Digicel and will forever”, Joy said when asked how she felt about the life changing windfall.

Joy, her brother Larson and workmate Joe were at a tyre service outlet at the time when she received the winning call, but immediately made their way to Digicel Headquarters at Gordons to make sure it was real.

When asked what she would do with her money, Joy said “The win was completely unexpected so I really don’t have any plans on how to use my money I will have to sit down and have a good think first”.

Digicel’s CEO, John Mangos was on hand to do the presentation to Joy and said; “Joy was fantastic on the radio and we were delighted that this major prize will have a big impact on her life.”
