NELSON STONE PREPARES FOR TRAINING IN SYDNEY
December 16th 2011 - PNG’s top track male athlete to train and compete in AustraliaPNG’s top track male athlete and 400m gold medallist of the Pacific and Digicel’s brand ambassador- Nelson Stone will be travelling to Sydney, Australia after Christmas to train and compete in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Game scheduled for 27 July to 12 August, 2012.
Nelson said his focus area to train in Sydney is the 400 metres track and he will be concentrating in scoring good running times to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
He will also be looking at competing in the 400 metres, 200 metres and 100 metres track events in the Australian Domestic Season as a warm up to the London Olympics next year.
Nelson said, “It’s great for me to train in Sydney where there are proper facilities in place and also Australians have some of the best sprinters in the world so it will be helpful for me to experience the competition to boost me in running with the best in the world, its good motivation and good competition.”Nelson is currently training hard twice a day, six days a week at the John Guise Stadium and is expected to go back and forth to train in Sydney for around three months.
