Digicel, PNG’s bigger, better network today announced PNG’s Taekwondo Champion-Theresa Tona, as its third Brand Ambassador.

The 20-year from Kairuku in the Central Province will as off today, represent and promote the country’s leading telecommunications brand - Digicel around PNG as well as abroad.

Theresa will be working alongside associated ambassadors George Tau and fellow South Pacific gold medalist and track King, Nelson Stone who has also joined Digicel as Brand Ambassador earlier in November.

Theresa thanked Digicel for the opportunity and said: “I am very excited as this is a great opportunity for me and I privileged to be associated with a fantastic brand such as Digicel. I am looking forward to promoting Digicel in my activities both here in PNG and overseas. I believe that such an exposure will help me open up and build more confidence in the public eye.”

Speaking on behalf of Digicel, Jayleen Morris-Digicel’s Public Relations Manager said; “Digicel is passionate about the development of sport in PNG and we are delighted to engage young, energetic athletes who are not only good sports men and women but also good role models for our young generation. We therefore welcome Theresa onboard and we look forward to working closely with her in all our activities as well as support her in her preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games in London next year.”

Following her gold medal win in the Oceania Olympic Qualifier this year, Theresa has successfully qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games. She will be the only competitor representing PNG in the sport of Taekwondo at the London Olympics next year.

Theresa has been training hard five days a week and is set to compete with some of the best in the world in her 49 kg division in the London Olympic Games scheduled for 27 July to 12 August, 2012.

To date, Digicel PNG has three young and energetic brand ambassadors who are local b-boy icon and dancer-George Tau and PNG athletes and gold medalists Nelson Stone and Theresa Tano.
