Schools In with Digicel!

January 13th 2009 - Schools In with Digicel!

200 school fee payments to be won!

Tuesday January 13th, 2008 – Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea: Digicel, the fastest growing mobile operator in the Pacific, says Happy New Year to PNG by launching a massive new Back-to-School giveaway!

The big news is that K100,000 in school fees are up for grabs, as Digicel combines fantastic phone deals with free gift packs for schoolchildren.

Digicel PNG CEO John Mangos outlined the details -

“Anyone who buys a new handset between January 14th and January 31st will get a free gift pack or gift item, an ideal addition for back-to-school needs.

There are bigger prizes on offer however.

John Mangos continued -

“Digicel is also giving away 200 school fee prizes of K500 each. Anyone who buys a new handset with new SIM, or standalone SIM pack, between January 14th and 31st and then makes a call or SMS in January – it doesn’t matter to who, so long as the new phone and/or SIM is activated – then that number is automatically entered into the draw for the school fee prizes.”

Winners will be drawn and announced after January 31st, and the competition is open to anyone who buys a handset with SIM, or SIM pack, during the timeframe, and activates by making a call or sending a text by January 31st.

Fr John Glynn is Chaplain at Jubilee Catholic School in Port Moresby. He lauded Digicel’s new campaign as a supplement to education initiatives in PNG -

“Let’s do all we can to help our disadvantaged kids get to school. This time of year is always a struggle for many parents, who want their children to receive the full benefits of an education, but many have to dig deep to find the money for fees.  I want to say thanks to Digicel for taking a lead on this issue. Two hundred children will be assured of an education, or a continued education, for the coming school year. It will make a real difference to their lives and their future.”
