August 30th 2011 - DIGICEL GO FOR GOLD VAULT HITS K7500 WITH 5TH GOLD FOR PNGThe Pacific’s best swimmer Ryan Pini has took PNG’s fifth Gold medal at the 14th Pacific Games and his third personal gold after winning the 50m backstroke this evening in record time.
With three Golds for Pini, combined with the two won by Jack Viyufa in Bodybuilding yesterday, the Digicel Go for Gold Vault now contains K7500 which will go in direct payments to reward PNG’s finest athletes.
In other action this evening swimmer Anna Lisa Mopio added silver from the 200 m freestyle to the two bronze she won yesterday evening and there are still more medal possibilities this evening as the PNG swimmers and boxers continue to fly the flag for PNG.
The Digicel Go for Gold incentive program developed by Team PNG’s Major sponsor will see each Gold Medal winning athlete receive a payment of K1500 per individual Gold, with Teams that achieve the highest honour sharing a K3000 payment.
