With four days remaining in the 14^th Pacific Games, Team PNG athletes have continued to bag Gold with Salome Dell being the latest golden girl to win the highest honour in the 800 metres and pushing Digicel Go for Gold Vault to K33,000.

On Monday evening Betty Burua capped the “Magic Monday” for Team PNG claiming the ninth Gold of the day when she won the triple jump Pacific title.

To date 10 individual athletes have won gold for PNG, while PNG’s Cricket heroes are the only team to take the top step on the podium, bringing the overall reward payments from Team PNG Major sponsor Digicel to K33,000. The Pacific’s leading swimmer Ryan Pini is back in Brisbane enjoying a well deserved warm down after his heroic efforts earned him five gold and K7500 as a bonus with weightlifters Rita Kari and Dika Toua coming next on the individual gold tally with three each and K4500 to spend when they arrive back in PNG..

The Digicel Go for Gold incentive program developed by Team PNG’s Major sponsor will see each Gold Medal winning athlete receive a payment of K1500 per individual Gold, with Teams that achieve the highest honour sharing a K3000 payment.
