DMP TIPPED TO SNATCH MORE AWARDS AT PNG’S DIGICEL YUMIFM MUSIC AWARDS THIS SATURDAY NIGHT
After scooping 3 awards at the Solo Music Awards in late 2010, Solomon Island’s most popular reggae music sensation group_ Door Man’s Project, better known as DMP, has arrived in Port Moresby and are expected to draw in hundreds of fans at the Port Moresby Country Club this Saturday night where Digicel and YUMIFM will bring to Port Moresby, the PNG Music Awards.
DMP’s popular hit songs “Gole and All my life” has gained momentum by listeners of both NAUFM and YUMIFM with many flying in from all parts of the country to witness and enjoy the PNG YUMIFM Musik Awards with the young talented boys who are set to go LIVE on stage for ONE NIGHT ONLY.
Back home, musical talents like Reggie and Brixiie, who have brought in such youthful vocals to PNG’s airwaves have become local celebrities from their songs “Olema and Stella” which have won over thousands of local fans for both artists. The two thanked their fans for their great support and love for their music and each will pay tribute to their fans by performing their songs LIVE on stage on Saturday night.
The Digicel YUMIFM PNG Music Awards Night will also feature PNG’s best solo Artists such as Lae’s very own, K- Duman who is set to perform on stage his hit single Highway 17 and Simbu. Another Lae talent and PNG’s first and favourite Digicel Star Greg Aaron will also be performing live on the night giving the crowd a dose of his smooth husky vocals and will also launch a new album which is expected to be a big sellout.
Another LIVE performance that should not be missed out on during the Musik Awards night will come from the Duet of the Year nominees, Chris Sione and Nathan Nakikus who will bring to the crowd a taste of ‘sun kamap music’ from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville when they perform their songs “ Gutsomi and Lewa”.
To ensure the night be bigger and better, NAUFM & YUMIFM with the support of Digicel, will bring to the crowd an extra surprise appearance which will include beats to the Classical Tolai Rock Music that is set to have fans feeling satisfied indeed.
All performing artists and nominees for this most sought after music night are currently rehearsing for the big night. Fans in Port Moresby can now have the privilege to meet with their favorite musicians before the awards night and Digicel will announce a venue where fans can see their favorite artists on Friday the 5th of August.
The Digicel YUMIFM PNG Music Awards Night 2011 is managed by the Total Event Company and is held once every year. It currently stands out to be the only event that pays respect and recognition to PNG’s very own talented musicians who have blended the spirit of love, togetherness and enjoyment to make themselves stand out through the effort of music and sacrifice.
This year, 16 awards are expected to be handed over to artists/ bands that have proven to win the hearts of many Papua New Guineans, ranging from the Group of the Year to the Lifetime Achievement “Justin Kili Award.”
Devoted fans of NAUFM/YUMIFM can also contribute to recognizing our PNG Musicians by having their take on who should take out the Listerners Choice Awards.
Listeners should keep ears open to both stations on when to text in your choice for this week’s most memorable song for 2010; nominees are Olema by Reggie, Brixxie’s Stella and Jay West’s song, Invisible Love.
“It is encouraging to see that not only does PNG have established artists who have found their way into people’s hearts, through music and words, we also have a new generation of young talented artists in PNG and the Pacific Region coming through, DMP included” says TEC’s Manageress, Esther Gegelagi.
“This is just one night where all PNG music lovers across the country converge to the biggest dancing arena in Port Moresby and go home feeling satisfied that at least they got to meet, dance and sing along with their favorite musicians in just one night and that is why we work hard to make sure that the Music Awards Night 2011 is a success, but more importantly, better then 2010,” she adds.
